Facebook posts, are not activism. Facebook memes, are not sincere acts against the cause you stand by. Twitter posts of your political opinions do nothing but create anxiety and eye rolls. Deleting virtual friends is a waste of energy and maturity. As I find myself and the rest of the conscious world, feeling helpless in today's time of anxiety. I, along with the rest of us assholes, want to dearly make a contribution to what we firmly believe in. But for some reason, American Millennials have found their peace of mind, behind their keyboards.
As I fell asleep to the news of another LGBTQIA youth's death by suicide. And woke up to the sound of another product of America's poor education and mental healthcare system, beating his partner. The news cooing sounds of massacres, police brutality. And an orange goblin leading this country with speeches that harmonize with Adolf Hitler's songs of holocaust. I asked myself, what in the hell am I gonna do about it?
As one person, who is struggling to stay above water herself. I can only contribute so much to my community and the world's crisis. I try my best to volunteer, educate, be kind, and strive to contribute to humanitarian aid as much as I can. But I'm still an asshole. Just like you. That being said, I decided to educate you today. On a few matters that came to mind this morning. And how you can contribute to these causes, besides making a measly post on social media. Like I'm doing now. Like I said, we're all assholes.
